Khouyoul is the Tunisian reinterpretation of the highly acclaimed 2016 dance performance horses by kabinet k. Horses attests to the power and integrity of human relationships.
The Dream City festival wants to use the arts to counter the malaise hanging over Tunisian society. Selma & Sofiane Ouissi, founders of L’Art Rue and Dream City, recognised a feeling of hope and blind faith in horses and knew that this performance was exactly what they needed. But rather than taking the original horses show to Tunisia, they decided to bring together kabinet k with children, dancers, and musicians from the Medina. With a Tunisian cast of six children between the ages of 8 and 13, three adult dancers and three musicians who play a variety of traditional Tunisian instruments, Joke Laureyns and Kwint Manshoven copied the creation process of horses, but with a Tunisian twist. The result is a small utopia of solidarity.
