A group of people are waiting. A man comes rushing in. Just at that moment a woman puts down her suitcase. The man stumbles over the suitcase, but stops himself from falling at the last moment by grabbing on to his neighbour. A physical chain reaction is set in motion. One accident after another, one blow after another. A body flys through the air, a head goes through a wall, flailing arms and legs try to get a grip. A ballet of falling and dodging, hitting and receiving.
Using slapstick, stunts, action and humour, Nevski Prospekt take a closer look at the phenomenon of ‘violence as entertainment’. Just as in a live-action video game, scenes are repeated with alternative twists, giving the viewer a new perspective and challenging him/her to adopt a new point of view; the perpetrator becomes victim and vice versa.
